As we draw closer to spring, colleges across the country are working hard to get through hundreds of thousands of college applications to the class of 2022 – and our students are rushing to their mailboxes during this nail-biting time to open mail that hopefully will be acceptance decisions.
The good news is that many standout college acceptances are filling their mailboxes including Northwestern University, Saint Mary’s College (Notre Dame, Indiana) and Santa Clara University. Others are: Augustana College, Bradley University, Carroll University, Carthage College, Columbia College, Cornell College, DePaul University, De Pauw University, Dominican University, Illinois State University, Loyola University, Marquette University, University of Illinois at Chicago, Wheeling Jesuit University and Xavier University.
Notably, senior Tamara was accepted Northwestern and received a four-year scholarship to the journalism program. Northwestern has only an 11 percent acceptance rate and is considered among the top 20 hardest colleges and universities to get into in America based on SAT/ACT test scores from the U.S. Department of Education, as compiled by Niche, a national digital platform that analyzes public data to produce comprehensive rankings and report cards for every K-12, college and neighborhood in the U.S.
CRSM partners with several organizations, locally and nationally, that mentor CRSM students and some provide college scholarships as well. Among our mentoring partner programs are the Schuler Scholar Program (Lake Forest), College Bound Opportunities (Highland Park) and Management Leadership for Tomorrow.
Additionally, last fall, 32 Cristo Rey students participated in the prestigious Chicago Scholar’s Onsite College Admissions Forum, and were accepted into colleges across the country. Several students were awarded between $27,000 and $30,000 in merit-based awards. The one-day admissions programs connects top students nationwide to selective colleges in one day. During Onsite 2017, the CRSM students were among 1,200 scholars nationwide who received more than $46 million in merit scholarships at a celebratory luncheon and day of one-on-one interviews held at Navy Pier on Oct. 24, 2017.
Stay tuned for more successful admissions stories to come!
