Students Lead Ash Wednesday Prayer Service

On Wednesday the student body celebrated Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent with an all-school prayer service.

Students received ashes – in the sign of the cross as a sign of repentance and a sign of our faith as we begin Lent together.

This was a Taize prayer service, organized and led by students – the musicians, the songs, scripture readings, lighting of candles, prayers at the cross, shared silence and quiet prayers together.

Ana Maria (CRSM ’20)  a vocalist  and musician said, “I got to sing my favorite song, Jesus Remember Me. It means a lot to me because even though my grandmother didn’t speak English, she cried when she first heard the song – now she knows the words and it’s our favorite.”

Lent is a time for all of us to return our hearts to God more fully and to grow closer to Christ through prayer, fasting and giving.
