The Board of Directors of The Healthcare Foundation of Northern Lake County has awarded Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep a generous grant which will provide students with improved access to healthcare services. The Foundation’s mission is to support efforts that improve access to health services for under-served Lake County, Illinois residents.
School nurses provide essential health-related education to students and staff, playing an important role in the identification of both physical and mental health problems. The Foundation strives to improve the health status of uninsured, under-insured, and medically under-served residents and are especially interested in addressing gaps in health services; increasing the capacity of effective organizations and programs; and fostering innovative solutions to persistent healthcare access problems.
CRSM is grateful to the Healthcare Foundation of Lake County for providing the lead gift to fund this position; two other private foundations are providing additional funds that, when combined, will allow us to staff this position for 12 months. We are actively searching for school nurse candidates (full-time or part-time) and hope to have someone start in the role during the second semester of the 2018-2019 academic year.
