The Corporate Work Study Program held its 2nd annual Career Exploration Event on March 19th. The Honorable Ruben Castillo, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, delivered the keynote speech to open the event.
Fifty-two young professionals, representing thirteen career specialties, volunteered their time to hold “informational interviews” for small groups of CRSM sophomores. The presenters offered critical information about the skill sets required for each vocation; sharing stories about their career paths, educational experiences and the challenges aspiring professionals often face.
Each student was scheduled to attend 4 of the “mini seminars.” They had an opportunity to speak personally with any of the professionals, and in a unique twist, were treated to thirteen “elevator pitches” about each occupation and why someone should consider a career in that specialty.

I have been really impressed with the students that I have met – in terms of their maturity, their focus and their drive. I’m quite certain that it’s showing up in their studies as well. I’m a fan, becoming a bigger fan.”
