Congratulations to the 32 Cristo Rey students who were accepted to more than 20 colleges ranging from Augustana, Cornell College and DePaul, to Loyola, Marquette and St. Mary’s in Notre Dame, Indiana through an invitation to participate for a day in the prestigious Chicago Scholar’s Onsite College Admissions Forum. The one-time event connects students to colleges and universities from across the country in one day. This year, 179 highly selective colleges and universities came to Chicago to interview students. Several students were awarded between $27,000 and $30,000 in merit-based awards.
During Onsite 2017, the CRSM students were among 1,200 scholars from the Chicagoland area who received more than $46 million in merit scholarships at a celebratory luncheon and spent the day with one-on-one interviews held at Navy Pier on Oct. 24, 2017.
“Many students received acceptances on the spot and some were informed of acceptances and received scholarship money at the same time,” said college counselor Beth Kainic. She added that 11 of the CRSM students were invited to participate through their involvement with College Bound Opportunities (CBO) and five through their participation in the Waukegan to College program.
The 32 Cristo Rey seniors received acceptances to many different colleges and universities including:
Illinois State University
Milwaukee School of Engineering
North Park University
University of Illinois (Chicago)
Saint Mary’s College (Notre Dame, Indiana)
Southern Illinois University
