From Duke University in North Carolina, Johns Hopkins in Maryland and Marquette and Loyola universities closer to home, more than 50 CRSM alumni and about 10 teachers and staff gathered on Dec. 22, 2016 at Salutos Italian Restaurant in Gurnee to celebrate the Christmas holiday and reunite with former classmates.
Sharing stories and tales from the college front, many of the alumni talked about how the connections and lessons learned at CRSM are helping them meet the challenges of college. In addition, many expressed an interest in giving back to CRSM following their college graduation. On February 17, 2016 from 12:30 to 2 p.m., a handful of alumni will do exactly that when they participate in the first of what is hope to be an annual “Alumni Panel,” where they will share their lessons learned with current CRSM seniors.
Isabel Alvarez, CRSM alumna who is majoring in business at the College of Lake County and works part-time to earn her tuition, shared, “It’s tough working and going to school, but I learned at Cristo Rey how to manage my time and to push on even when the going gets tough. If it wasn’t for Cristo Rey, I wouldn’t have ever thought college was possible for me or know about the opportunities for financing. The school offered a safe space for me to achieve goals I never thought possible.”
